the movie is again a very torturous one, one must avoid it like plague or like the swine flu ...

the worst will be seeing Harman fall for each girl

and almost 3 and a half hours will be wasted...

however ,none in the world can compete me in TIME - WASTE ...

Well,,me an aquarian ,,cool mast ,fun loving,,daring ..easy go ..blah blah .....nah !!!now if I sound that way ....kindly shut me up !!

movie review

Hi ! watched New York ! nice ,concepted movie ! The three smart actors have been successful in framing a hollywoodish touch to the film ,by giving it a western flair , by their acting and their looks.For those who have seen and read much of the 11th sep attack on America may find things being picked up and revised over .Neil has been able to screen out the frustation of a muslim friend in tough terrorist- situations.Caterina is brilliant and John is also fine.. The story ends in grief ; explaining how different people take different decisions ;this way being right at their own place but affecting others behind them !

KAL KISSNE DEKHA HAI !

Some days back...

I happened to watch a hindi movie after a long span of time...KAL KISNE DEKHA HAI !...

(but the hero can see things of kal !)

here follows the outline review: Nihaal,apni babbbey ka puttar , frm chandigarh ..chota shehar,as the movie says .I wonder why Chandigarh would be tagged as a chota... To quote,The average salary of each person ranges frm 40-50 thousand . I wonder where else in India does this statistic hold ! The film tries to show up the college stuff scene..I guess your own college happenings are 10 times more eventful than those in the movie.The film features a stylish ,proud,affluent,heartless heroine who falls in love with the chandigarhi hero who has a vision of tomorrow ,after an incident where the hero saves her life  from a bomb accident ...His speciality,is the foresight of future.The kamal ka nihaal is prone to fall in the hands of some anti social elements.....blah blah..rest things can be predicted..Rishi Kapoor seems to be doing something in the movie..Babbey is OK.Otherwise ,Theres not much reason why one should watch the movie,although some say it can be watched once !Dialogues are very average ,and songs are hopeless.Girls who like nakhra-wakras of the heroine can...More so ,I guess the actress is more suitable for ads like rasna,drinks,scooty or some cosmetic.The hero,via the creamy flavour he holds, fails to convey the subject through dialogues .

Thats it ! the off-track  of bollywood has given ample scope for its thoda -bhot business it could otherwise not have made !

how he manges ...how he struggles this way ......swimming accross the sea of hardships and troubles.......That is what the edged story is !

MOVIE REVIEW

GRUDGE 3 : A story about a brother and his two sisters, who live in the apartment building from "The Grudge 2", fighting for their lives against the menacing ghosts .The soundtrack is exactly the same from the first two movies, the apartment looks exactly the same from the sequel, plenty of exterior shots and a solid set of actors.. Certainly not much of horror for me ..I wonder if I can ever be scared of a horror movie.. dats it,I rate it as 5/10.. I like the introduction of Kayako's sister and the twist of events at the end. It was also a bit smoother than "The Grudge 2",



Serendipity: SWEET MOVIE..FOR THE ONES WHO PREFER WATCHING SWEET CINEMA and cool love stories.Its fine,moving kinda average movie.

Hi everyone..watched The Reader just now. yes ! the OSCAR...starring Kate winslet (bafta ,oscar, grammy winner ). xams over now... was planning to go out today. but had things to watch at hand. I realized I havent reviewd a movie for long..inspite of the fact..Ive been watching too many to even recall.. Lemme mention a few of them:
 
THE READER: A good well-framed movie but long after seeing the film you keep wondering whether it really deserves the critical acclaim of the OSCARS, blander version of the bestseller,The Reader holds your attention but fails to evoke emotions it intends to.Sex culminating into warm and deep love only happens towards the later half of the film and before it takes the film to another level, it ends again. The characters and the story are not well defined.I wonder it be a love story, mystery, war, redemption,its not justified actually. Why do the characters do what they do is for us to find out. . In all,thik-thak movie which will hold your interest throughout! (6.5/10)
 

MONSTERS' INK: A cute,innocent lovely annimated movie... wrapped up in a creative concept of power generation by scaring kids..which later turns into making them happy.. The monsters are so nice ..specially the googly-woogly ..I like his dialogues very much and yes ..the litle girl..with her cute - lovely mischeifs and acts..entertains the viewers... The total treatment of the film is very nice! I loved it. (8/10) 


THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN: A grand ,elegant movie..nicely sequenced in its own set of events. Kingdom of Heaven is an epic adventure about a common man who finds himself thrust into a decades-long war. A stranger in a strange land, he serves a doomed king, falls in love with an exotic and forbidden queen, and rises to knighthood. Ultimately, he must protect the people of Jerusalem from overwhelming forces while striving to keep a fragile peace. A high standard ,quality movie ... gets a bit long although ..but your time is well justified. (8.5/10) 

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS: A film comes along with the main lead being homeless, struggling in a doomed marriage, with a child to support single-handedly, no substantial career to speak of or prospects to cheer for, it surely has to stand out. This is even more so when the title is as optimistic as ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’. Will Smith's gentle character of Chris Gardner, played by Hollywood hunk (must mention this word here, given the absolute contrast of the role he has played in this movie!) teaches us to wake up and look at each day as a blessing. The amazing grace and sheer willpower that sees him through even the worst of life’s difficulties has a strange dual effect on the viewer – your heart bleeds as well as swells with admiration for the man with the box and a little kid both at once. I rate it as 9/10. Similar as for an emotional bachcha like me..it would cause you weep atleast once.. 

SOMEONE LIKE YOU: A good well storied romantic movie.. The actress is cute and looks pretty hot when she weeps. Ditched in love by a stupid lover,,she works in well ..and the awesome -extraordinary study over the male lovers in general who keep changing preferences is cool.. Later she finds her love in guise of an old friend.I rate the movie as 8/10 

13B: Man Vs Gadgets’ !! Madhavan is excellent in picking the right scripts and he’s good enough at enacting them too! Be it his romantic appeal or in the most of mixed-up situations, he tops ! ‘13B’ is all about a television set and nothing else that throws the most skittish things around. It can be compared to ‘One Missed Call’and 'Remote Control'. If the song ‘Sab Khariyat Hai’ has a pleasant touch, there’s something different you experience every time this song comes along the show and film is successful in creating tension by every passing moment.. Finally,you leave the cinEma hall satisfied !
 
DEV D : I liked the movie because though in extremes, it was believable. I could believe a wayward, purposeless guy’s search for love. I believe that no matter how bad our circumstances, we make our choices. All characters had it hard, but none were forced to make the choice. They made their choices of freewill. This is true for our lives too.Dark humor in the movie was a plus. Dev,the hero is not your usual goody-two-shoes hero. His actions are not admirable and you don’t feel any sympathy for him. But he is not an anti-hero either. His plight to dungeons and relationship with Paro and Chanda is well-fleshed out. Both Paro and Chanda have been portrayed with independence and dignity. Unlike Dev, Paro hasn’t been going through any emotional atyachar, she seems to have a good life with her Bhuvan. Last but not the least a watchable for abhay fans like me..
 
OYE LUCKY..: Told you earlier I'm flat at Abhay Deol's simple,spontaneous style.. just found an excuse to review his yet another movie.. Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye is a story of Lucky Singh (Abhay Deol) who plays a loveable thief, someone who even the Delhi police are extremely fond of. His style is to outsmart the people, chowkidars and policemen with his sharp mind and wit. He is an aspiring individual who loves the good things in life and is generally enamored by the lifestyles of the rich and affluent . Its based on the concept that sometimes the only way to stop a criminal is to become one. Abhay is also good at the romantic chats with his beloved.. sonam,the character in the film.

Film: Luck By Chance (Drama) Cast: Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia Direction: Zoya Akhtar Critic's Rating: **** Zoya Akhtar manages to create some riveting character studies which have nothing filmy, nor flimsy, about them. Watch Farhan Akhtar and Konkona Sen grow from nobody to somebody in an industry which is harsh, brutal, nasty and non-compromising, and you are sure to get your paisa vasool. Of course, you've got to cruise along patiently, since success and self-identity are things that cannot be achieved in a nano second. Not in real life at least. Not in the world that Vikram Jaisingh (Farhan), a struggler from Delhi and Sona (Konkona), a runaway from Kanpur, inhabit. Here, things happen more by chance; mostly by luck; but survive, only by talent. So, there's nothing chancy about Vikram ending up as a successful film hero and Sona wowing TV viewers with her saas-bahu enactments. Yet, before they get there, they must survive a million rejections, heartbreak, misuse and separation. While Sona waits for her big break from a film producer she has been `friendly' ever since she landed lonesome in Mumbai, Vikram bides his time, confident he'll get the big break. The duo get friendly and spend many happy `waiting' moments on their terrace until the big break actually comes. Reigning superstar, Hrithik opts out of a film being made by Rishi Kapoor, a mainstream producer, for a Karan Johar film. Enter newcomer, Vikram, on the recommendations of the heroine's mother (now that's another sweet story) and the rest is history. Yellow journalism, the ill-famed heroine's mummyji (Dimple Kapadia), the heady cocktail of success, the lovers tiff, ruthless ambition, unbridled me-centrism: the film holds a mirror, not only on the film industry, but on life itself. Success is great and dreams are intoxicating, but they can be dangerous too, says Zoya, the story writer. Yet, never stop dreaming! The highpoint of the film are its performances. Both Farhan and Konkona are complete naturals before the camera, just as Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia prove that vintage never does lose its flavour, does it! The jibes are gentle, the tenor is fond, yet firm. But most importantly, the characters are completely real: feisty and flawed, even as the end is exhilarating. At the end ,I rate it as a good movie, and I like Farhaan,declaring so I sign off.. regards astha!

SLUMDOG-MILLIONARE

MOVIE REVIEW: "Slumdog-millionare"

Dharavi boy Jamal Malik, server of ‘chai’, keeper of secrets, is one of the wise. He’s learnt his wisdom on the streets, and he uses it to become a millionaire. Director Danny Boyle takes the bare bones of Vikas Swarup’s novel, and turns the film into an electric, visceral, kinetic feast, and an all-get-out entertainer. ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is ‘Salaam Bombay’ on speed. Only it’s called Mumbai now. Blood, sweat, tears. And that other bodily fluid—shit— that no one likes to acknowledge, least of all mainstream meisters. Danny Boyle uses these elemental qualities to construct call centre ‘chaipau’ Jamal ( Dev Patel) , and his ‘bizarrely plausible’ ( in the delightful phrase of one of the characters) world, constantly teetering on the edge of collapse, constantly being shored by the grit and gumption of those who live in it. And gives us an unlikely hero who is a metaphor for our times. Yes, Jamal can. So can Latika ( Freida Pinto), his childhood sweetheart, who is also a product of the same sewage and lineage that he and his brother Salim come from. Their journey to young adulthood, fraught with many dangers, is not new for those who’ve seen Bollywood’s tryst with slum-homeless kids being blinded and maimed by beggar cartels is one of Hindi cinema’s oldest saddest tales, along with fresh virgins being readied to be deflowered by the highest bidder. Boyle invests old tropes with a welcome matter-of-factness, and is willing to learn on the job : his inordinate glee at showing his young urchin wallowing in human excrement is overtaken by Jamal’s unchecked exuberance - the slumdog conquers both the smell and the moment. When he first opens his mouth, the UK based ‘desi’ debutant Dev Patel seems all wrong, because of his clipped cadences. But almost immediately he settles into his groove, and, along with the marvellous young kids who play the leads’ younger selves, grows into being the film’s high point : Jamal is vulnerable yet strong, the fragile skin peeling off to reveal the steel underneath. Pinto is real, and keeps him able company. Irrfan Khan and Saurabh Shukla as the hectoring cops, and Mahesh Manjrekar as the brutal ‘bhai’, fit right in. Anil Kapoor, as the devious host of the game-show, turns in one of his most vivid, precise performances. And A R Rahman’s score is a triumph. ... contd

No matter what I say, people are liking or even loving this movie. Fair enough. Personally, I hated this movie.. absolutely. Not because it portrayed India in a bad light.. no... that is reality, we all know that. It was just a bad film. The 'fantastic' camera angles were real bad, the acting, except for the youngest kids, was terrible. Dev Patel can't act.. Period. He just hung around with a puppy dog expression.. Hell! he spoke with a Scottish accent. In all my 24 years, I have never, never come across any slum kid who can speak English with an American accent as the middle-segment kids. Anil Kapoor was way over the top, AR Rahman's music, though the brightest point of the movie, was not memorable, He's done waaayyyy better and not got anything for it. Lagaan was a way, way better film than this and got zilch for itself. We are stuck in a post-colonial hangover that makes us appreciate whatever a white man does.

At the end of the day though it is only a story, that potray's how out of great adversity and struggle some people make it through to brighter times. There are sinister underworlds in all countries and there are always people who will exploit the weak and needy.I thought the film was one rollercoaster ride ,full of tension,colour and exhilirating music. Perhaps people are uncomfortable looking at the poor and the conditions they have to live in, even if it is just a story...the same way we turn away or cross the road if we see a tramp begging in the street...if we turn away perhaps in our minds we think it won't exsist!

So i feel Slumdog Millionaire is a beautiful movie, beautifully made....and the movie winning all oscar nominations shud not come as a surprise but shud be seen as a logical reward to this well deserved craft........ but...... We have had so many movies made in india which were as beautiful as Slumdog if not better but because of lack of international exposure and awareness were not given the credit they were worth..... I hope this movie helps in creating a global interest in Indian cinema and if you loved Rahman, you would also love Lata Mangeshkar or Aamir Khan and many other jewels in Indian entertainment industry..

criticism....there are ..there will be..even would do so if asked to do!..

RAAZ-2

Woke up unwillingly today at 8 in the morning...didnt have a good sleep ..had agreed to a friend's proposal of watching movies late night :Boys and girls(romantic) & ; the art of seduction(stupid)..The latter being boring..Contrary to being seductive..it acted as a sedative to sleep.Anyway I forgot to blog on the outing for the RAAZ-2 show..I compensate that with its review.To mention ...I did not much like it(4/10),except the music.  

Raaz adds onto bollywood-type horror films(scenes copied from hollywood and other sources) Raaz mystery still be said to have been inspired by Indian myths and legends, which focuses on the relationship between good and evil. The film has a love story and superb music. The film has very patent and favorite actors of the Bhatt camp as Emraan Hashmi along with Kangana Ranaut.
 
Raaz 2' is set in contemporary India. The story is weaved around saint Kabir's idiom 'Bura jo dekhan main chala, bura na milya koi; jo dil khoja apna, toh mujh sa bura na koi,' meaning that the evil is within, and that is the message of the film.

: A brooding artist Prithvi mystical experiences and grayling owing vision Nandita, a woman he never met, as he paints on a canvas. At first Nandita refuses to believe him or reject him as an eccentric TALKER. Plagued by a series of deadly and Paranormal experiences, her reason crumbles in the face of fear. Now is one of the Prithvi paintings has revealed that her death-------------------------------------------------------------------------- That was all in context with the reel .Now peep into the real: rushed to the college..searching through the libraray card...ran to the class.Ma'm tauntingly didn't approve ma entrance being 15 mins late.However I got onto and imitataing others jotted down the never-to-be read things..in telegram-style(thats originally mine!)Had 2nd lecture free.Went to the library..didnt have much clue...hopeless as always ..could manage just one or two for the sem..leaving rest for others who had better idea of the course and who study the issued ones! dint attend the classes after that...enterd the room and sleeping out of the yesterday's tiredness (I guess so!).Went outta "elite" yesterday..after lunch ..witH frenz and returnedin the night at the specific time..Now while I'm typing out this all.. ma nice friends are busy in the seminaar at the CSblock.........and you can see I'm not there!..................... thats the best way I end crowning legal value to my blog.. see-you ..
