PUB-CULTURE

Of late there's been a fuss over the pub culture in course of the recent pub -attack on women by a group of hindu hardliners at Mangalore in an attempt of moral policing..This post of mine is in accord with the same..the all hype created over it and the true aspect of what is being understood of a pub culture.
Origin:From pub ,short for English pub house, which used to be a stop for carriages, where passengers could rest and get some refreshment. In contrast to private members' club...pubs were open to all!......an aspect of the British social life...a hang-out for people living in a local area.
Current usage:In India pub-culture has acquired negative connotations. It has come to signify women drinking and socialising in public.Reviled in the same way as Valentine's Day.
History:Pub culture's history has been ugly in India....its like anything which does not confirm to the perceived Indian values is tagged as pub-culture.
Quotations:Union health minister Anbumani Ramadoss has blamed the pub culture for the rise in the number of young people drinking alcohol. He said" If it goes this way ..India will not progress." Karnataka cheif minister B S Veddy urappa has said " pub culture is not a part of Indian culture...We will not allow this in Karnataka." source:Times ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ....had been out today..took ma lappy thrice to the service centre,,out of the hostel all the day...A home -made dinner ..all courtesy to a friend's parents (@ railway station,Jhansi)...had a bit with the newspaper and then watched unfaithful ....and since then upto now late midnight.. I've been browsing aimlessly....updates ,,latests,,drivers etc etc...all against this bloody wifii.
goodnight..
take care..
regards!!
